Aristotelica actively promotes the plurality of scholarly approaches to Aristotle, to the Aristotelian tradition and to their reception from antiquity to the present, with particular attention to the philological soundness and historical accuracy of articles. The journal values the exchange between different schools and interpretative traditions, and it encourages the participation of scholars from diverse social, academic, geographic, and cultural backgrounds.
Submissions offering innovative or underrepresented perspectives are welcome, provided they are based on textual accuracy, linguistic competence, and historical depth. Critical dialogue between divergent interpretations is considered a key element in the advancement of research.
PEER REVIEW
Each article is initially evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief, the Co-Editor, or a member of the editorial board, who assesses its scholarly validity, clarity, relevance, and formal compliance with the journal’s guidelines. If deemed suitable, it is submitted to a double-blind peer review. The evaluation is entrusted to two expert reviewers, selected for their competence and independence from the author. In case of conflicting evaluations, a third reviewer is commissioned.
Submissions by editorial board members, including the editors, are evaluated by at least two independent external reviewers.
Conflicts of interest (arising from recent collaborations, competition, or affiliation) must be disclosed by both authors and reviewers. Any procedural dispute is managed by the editorial board according to impartiality criteria and in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
The selection of texts for publication is based exclusively on their scholarly quality, originality, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal and to the specific topic set out in any call for papers. The editorial board informs authors of the requirements their articles must meet and of the editorial guidelines. The board will explain the reasons for any rejection.
HANDLING OF BREACHES OF SCIENTIFIC INTEGRITY
The journal adopts rigorous procedures to prevent and address breaches of scholarly integrity. The following are considered unacceptable: plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data falsification, unauthorized reproduction of previously published work, or copyright infringement. In the event of a report that any of these breaches has occurred, the editorial board initiates an internal investigation, involving an external advisor if necessary. Authors will be informed and, if irregularities are confirmed, the article will be retracted or a correction or clarification note will be issued, in accordance with COPE recommendations.
POST-PUBLICATION PROCEDURES
The journal provides for the possibility of publishing corrections, amendments, replies, or retractions should significant errors or relevant scholarly issues emerge after publication. Scientific debate is encouraged through the publication of response articles, letters, or critical essays, all subject to editorial review. If an error is reported, the editorial board assesses the validity of the request and, if necessary, intervenes transparently following COPE procedures. All changes are clearly documented and linked to the original contribution.
OPENNESS TO DEBATE
Editors and editorial board members work with the publisher to prevent plagiarism and violations of intellectual property. Scholarly debate is further encouraged by guaranteeing the right of reply to authors whose work has been subject to criticism.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND OPEN ACCESS
The journal adopts the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY) license, which allows reuse, distribution, and adaptation of texts, provided the source is always cited. Authors retain the rights to their work and may reuse the content for subsequent digital or print publications, including commercial venues. The journal guarantees full open access, with no embargo, to maximize the dissemination and impact of published research. Inclusion in academic and library catalogues is encouraged and supported.
